Biography
Dessy Di Lauro’s professional singing career began in the early 1990’s with Montreal gospel choirs such as Genuine Faith and Imani.
Di Lauro was also part of the R&B group Co-Soul, who performed alongside the likes of Celine Dion, Janis ‘Coco’ Thompson, Michael Jackson and Cameo. Di Lauro has opened for Mary J Blige at the Montreal International Jazz Festival.
Di Lauro formed part of the original line up of the acid jazz group, Bullfrog.
My background is Cuban/Italian/Brazilian, and I was born in Montreal.
This group toured extensively and would eventually open for established funkster , Maceo Parker.
By the late 1990’s, Di Lauro was not only being appreciated as a gifted singer, but also as a talented and caring songwriter.
In 1997- francophone rap group Dubmatique asked Di Lauro to write and sing on their debut album “La Force de Comprendre”. This decision would not only win Dubmatique a number one single in Canada
