UPMC's first female leader discusses UPMC Hamot, hospital challenges
UPMC's new chief executive officer has been involved with UPMC Hamot since before it joined the Pittsburgh-based health system in 2011.
Leslie Davis, 62, served as UPMC's liaison to then-Hamot Medical Center during the Hamot's affiliation process.
As president of UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital from 2004-2018, Davis also played a role in creating Magee-Womens, UPMC Hamot — the Erie hospital's gynecological-obstetrics hospital.
On Aug. 1, Davis will succeed Jeffrey Romoff as the health system's leader.
Romoff has led UPMC since 1992 and worked for the health system for 48 years.
Davis, who is the first women to oversee UPMC, talked with the Erie Times-News about what she brings to the new job and Hamot's future. Her comments have been edited lightly for clarity.
