Pulitzer prize winners 2018

The 2015 Pulitzer Prize winners were announced on Monday, with Stephen Adly Guirgis winning the drama prize for his play “Between Riverside and Crazy.”

The Pulitzer jury called it “a nuanced, beautifully written play about a retired police officer faced with eviction that uses dark comedy to confront questions of life and death.” The play, inspired by a 1994 incident, is the story of an off-duty cop who shoots a black transit officer.

Its premiere last year at the Atlantic Theater came just as the outcry was escalating over the police killings of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., and Eric Garner in Staten Island.

Author Anthony Doerr won the fiction award for his acclaimed novel “All the Light We Cannot See,” which the jury called “an imaginative and intricate novel inspired by the horrors of World War II and written in short, elegant chapters that explore human nature and the contradictor
